The PGSG and the School of Geosciences at USF Tampa are very pleased to announce that the 27th Annual PGSG Preconference will be held at the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus on Monday, April 7, 2014. The paper sessions will take place during the day. The PGSG will host a group dinner for preconference participants during the evening.

Deadlines and registration
Please submit a paper title and a 200 word abstract, along with author contact details (name, institutional address, email address), to Reece Jones and Natalie Koch at aag.pgsg@gmail.com no later than February 1, 2014.
As with our past pre-conferences, there will be a nominal $20 registration fee for faculty only. Faculty, please bring cash if at all possible.

The Department of Geography at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Urban Planning and Sustainability at the rank of Assistant Professor effective August 2014. The candidate must be committed to excellent teaching, developing an externally funded research program, and play a vital role the department’s Urban Planning and Environmental Geography tracks. We are seeking an urban geographer with a solid research and teaching agenda in planning and sustainability. The ability to teach an environmental planning course is required and the candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s emphasis on sustainability. Technical skills in geospatial analysis (GIS, Cartography or Geovisualization) would be considered an asset. The finalist should also possess a commitment to take a leadership role in mentoring undergraduate students majoring in geography and advising geography master’s students focusing on urban geography, planning, and sustainability. A Ph.D. in Geography or an allied field at the time of appointment is required.
Ohio University is a four-year Research-Extensive public institution of approximately 20,000 students located in Athens, a progressive community situated in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio. The Department of Geography currently has 14 full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members, 170 undergraduate majors and 17 master’s students, and offers a range of degree programs including environmental geography, GISc, urban planning, environmental pre-law, and meteorology. The department enjoys excellent teaching, research, IT, and administrative support for its activities, and faculty have an active role in the Baltimore Long-Term Ecological Research project. Department faculty members also work closely with the graduate and undergraduate programs in Environmental Studies.
